-----------------------
(1) SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
-----------------------

  Linux kernel version 2.2.X
  Pentium II with 3D accelerator card (see below)
  64 MB RAM required (128 MB recommended)
  Video card capable of 640x480 resolution
  XFree86 3.3.5 or newer at at least 16bpp
  OSS compatible sound card
  Hard disk with at least 700 MB of space

This product is not intended for use with any version of the Windows
operating system.

This product supports 3D accelerators through OpenGL. Consult
http://www.lokigames.com/support/gldrivers/ for the latest news on drivers
and installation.

----------------
(2) INSTALLATION
----------------

Log in, mount the Rune CD and change the current directory to where
it is mounted. Type 'sh setup.sh' to run the install script.

e.g.  Log in as root:
        mount /mnt/cdrom
        cd /mnt/cdrom
        sh setup.sh

If you haven't already installed the Loki Update Tool or Loki Uninstall
Tool, the installer will prompt you to install these before installing
the main product.

--------------------
(3) PLAYING THE GAME
--------------------

Run 'rune' to start the game.

The first time you run Rune it will create a ~/.loki/rune directory.
Saved games, temporary files, and preferences will be stored here.

The following arguments may be given to Rune:

      [-h | --help] Display this help message
      [-v | --version] Display the game version
      [-f | --fullscreen] Run the game fullscreen
      [-w | --windowed] Run the game in a window
      [-s | --nosound] Do not access the soundcard
      [-u | --update] Run the Loki auto-update tool

(4) KNOWN ISSUES
----------------

OpenGL Renderer

- Z Buffer artifacts with 16 bit rendering
- Brightness slider doesn't work with XFree86 3.3.x
- Some levels require high quantities of memory, and on low-memory systems
  may require the occasional save, quit, restart game cycle

(5) TROUBLESHOOTING
-------------------

Q: The game runs very slowly.

A: You will need to make certain that your 3D drivers are configured
   correctly. For more assistance with this, please consult:

      http://www.lokigames.com/support/gldrivers/

   You do have the option of using the Sofware Renderer instead of the
   hardware-accelerated renderers.

Q: I am rendering in windowed mode and the mouse is grabbed in the window.

A: You can press CTRL-G to change between grabbing or not. Alternatively
   you can change the Rune.ini file

Q: Can I use the Glide renderer with XFree86 4.x?

A: The Glide renderer is intended for use with Glide 2, which only works
   with XFree86 3.3.x. For cards which are supported by DRI, use DRI and
   the OpenGL renderer instead.

Q: The game segfaults when trying to use windowed mode with the Glide
   renderer.

A: Glide doesn't support rendering in a window. This also affects Voodoo
   and Voodoo 2 cards using the Mesa libraries with glide support for
   OpenGL rendering.

Q: The game installed with the OpenGL renderer, but now I want to use the
   [Glide,Software] renderer.

A: Edit the following lines in
   $HOME/.loki/rune/System/Rune.ini

   To use the OpenGL renderer:

   [Engine.Engine]
   GameRenderDevice=OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice
   WindowedRenderDevice=OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice
   RenderDevice=OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice

   To use the Glide renderer:

   [Engine.Engine]
   GameRenderDevice=GlideDrv.GlideRenderDevice
   WindowedRenderDevice=GlideDrv.GlideRenderDevice
   RenderDevice=GlideDrv.GlideRenderDevice

   To use the Software renderer:

   [Engine.Engine]
   GameRenderDevice=SDLSoftDrv.SDLSoftwareRenderDevice
   WindowedRenderDevice=SDLSoftDrv.SDLSoftwareRenderDevice
   RenderDevice=SDLSoftDrv.SDLSoftwareRenderDevice

   Global settings are made in (INSTALL_PATH)/... and local ones in your
   home directory. When you first run Rune it will copy the
   version of Default.ini (and DefUser.ini) from (INSTALL_PATH)/... to your
   home directory and from there on only use the one in your home directory.

Q: How can I specify my OpenGL library?

A: You can choose the OpenGL library Unreal Tournament tries to use
   by specifying the path to it in your UnrealTournament.ini

   [OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice]

   OpenGLLibName=libGL.so.1

   or

   OpenGLLibName=/opengl/library/path/libMYGL.so.N

   By default, the DRI and nVidia drivers both place this library at
   /usr/lib/libGL.so.1
